They would have the professional knowledge to recognise schools that have demonstrated effective, sustained and innovative efforts in uplifting disadvantaged students from the defined student segments. They should also be comfortable in working with ICT tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Zoom) which are used during the assessment process.

• The jobholder will be involved in the evaluation of applications for the MOE Innergy (Schools) Award and Outstanding Innovator Award (Schools/HQ/Statutory Boards). Pre- and Post Diagnosis Educational Guides (PPDEG)

Job expectation of PPDEG:
(i) Support schools with pre and post diagnosis complex cases through case conferencing with school personnel and parents
(ii) Provide emotional support and guidance for parents in the journey towards acceptance of their child’s SEN diagnosis.
(iii) Provide information on educational pathways for their child and SPED school options available; and guidance on SPED school admissions processes

MOE Induction Mentor for foreign teachers

MOE Heritage Centre Docent

To conduct guided tours at the MOE Heritage Centre and in doing so, fulfill the following objectives:              

• Share with visitors the  Singapore Education Story and how education has contributed to nation-building

• Educate and inspire teachers on Singapore’s education heritage

• Help MOE staff feel connected as a fraternity with a shared heritage and affirm that their contributions are recognised and appreciated

The docents will conduct either a guided tour with facilitation OR a Learning Journey, depending on the assignments provided. Duration of each is about two hours. For both tour types, the candidate will engage participants by helping them to make connections between their personal experiences and the Singapore Education Journey using a range of gallery facilitation strategies. e.g. sharing stories, asking open-ended questions to elicit personal responses etc.

• For the facilitation segment of the Guided tour with facilitation, the candidate will lead in the sharing of personal and group reflections on the education journey.

a) Guided tour with facilitation for a group of up to 20 participants. One session consists of a guided tour of the Chronological Zone and a combined facilitated group sharing and reflection. The combined duration of the guided tour and group sharing session is estimated to be about 2 hours.

Facilitators for Introduction to Teaching Programme (ITP)

Academy of Singapore Teachers

The ITP is a 5.5-day programme (a 5-day workshop and a half-day check-in and reflection session) conducted multiple runs yearly.

This programme is meant for untrained teachers before they begin their contract teaching in schools.

The facilitator engaged for this programme should:

• be a recently retired (within five years preceding the year of ITP run) school leader (i.e., Vice Principal or Principal) or teacher leader (i.e, Master Teacher, Principal Master Teacher) from Singapore mainstream schools, with a recent understanding of the school context;

• be able to share classroom strategies/pedagogies, keeping in mind current systemic needs and recent curricular changes in education;

• equip participants with the fundamental understanding of CCE and parent engagement;

• have good communication skills; and

• be keen to engage participants in sharing personal experiences and facilitate sessions to engage teachers in forging connections with the fraternity.

Course Facilitator: “Supporting Teachers in Engaging Parents” course, intended for Middle Managers and Teacher Leaders

The facilitator leads the facilitation of the Parent Engagement workshop ‘Supporting Teachers in Engaging Parents, [for MMs and TLs]’.

The facilitator will:

• provide an overview of the changes in the educational landscape and key messages on Parent Engagement;

• draw on his/her own journey in education to weave themes to harness the best practices, opportunities and challenges in parent engagement to build sustained school-home partnerships, drawn from pre-workshop survey results;

• draw on vast experiences that would encompass the interactions with a wide range of stakeholders potentially involved in interacting with parents (e.g. MMs, TLs, VPs, counsellors, psychological services/family service centres);

• update on MOE’s support for schools (resources and structures);

• facilitate discussion(s) on the application of the available resources to deepen strengths surfaced and address challenges surfaced by drawing on his/her leadership journey as school leaders with the provision of authentic examples;

• reference Practice Level 3 of Building Partnerships in the Teacher Growth Model (2024) to guide participants on the application of the TRUST framework in strategising ways of cultivating trusted and sustained partnerships with parents; considering parents’ positions and priorities to influence and build consensus to realise each school’s vision; supporting and mentoring other teachers to better engage parents; and

• reference Practice Level 4 of Building Partnerships in the Teacher Growth Model (2024) to invite participants to evaluate and design a systematic approach in parent engagement, to realise the collective vision together with colleagues in school

The course facilitator should be an experienced educator with minimum 10 years of experience as a School Principal, with a vast pool of personal experiences and a repertoire of best practices on engaging and building sustained partnership with parents. 

Other Information

• Training resources such as facilitation plan and slides will be provided to Course Facilitators. Facilitator to prepare a few examples and accompanying slides to add on to the training resources. 

• Discussion between Course Owners (AST and CEG) and Course Facilitators will be conducted at least 5-7 days before workshop, based on Course Facilitators’ availability (4.5hrs). 

• Duration of actual workshop day will be 7 hrs–includes 3-hr preparation, 3-hr workshop and 1-hr post workshop debrief.

• If there is demand, a follow-up 4.5hrs of consultation session for interested schools to evaluate and design a systematic approach in their parent engagement, can be arranged. (consultation session is optional for participants)
